About New Members Care
Purpose
The New Members Care Team helps welcome new and prospective members into the life of the church, connecting with those who have just made the decision to join The Way or are interested in joining. We help make sure our guests feel seen, celebrated, and informed about their next steps. We’re not just handing out cards—we’re helping people take their first step into real community.
Ministry Goals
- Make new members feel personally welcomed and celebrated
- Help new members understand their next steps at The Way
- Support the Follow-Up Team by ensuring accurate and timely handoffs
- Provide a smooth and friendly transition from “visitor” to “family”
Roles & Responsibilities
- Connect with individuals who have decided to become members after Sunday service (whether up front or at the Connect Table)
- Have new members fill out a Connect Card & invite them to create a Church Center profile, if they haven’t already
- Engage in casual conversation—learn their name, story, and what brought them to The Way
- Share info about upcoming New Members Fellowship (5th Sundays) or other entry points into church community
- Let them know a Follow-Up Team member will personally reach out that week
- File new connect cards away in designated area
- Be warm, present, and approachable
